The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus

The John Lennon Educational Tour BusOn Thursday 25th July,I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to spend the day on the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. We started the day early at 8.30am and I was quickly introduced to the other 7 students that were taking part in the workshop. We were soon chatting excitedly about what we were going to be doing throughout the day. At 9 o clock we were introduced to Eanna from Apple who gave us a brief description of our timetable for the day. It seemed there was not a minute to be spared! Next we were brought outside to the bus where we were greeted by about 5 photographers, the Lord Mayor Catherine Clancy, and approximately 20 other adults. After all the pictures we were finally invited inside the bus. There was certainly an air of excitement and no-one had any idea of what to expect. However as soon as we stepped inside, everyone was completely gobsmacked. It was like something that you would only expect to exist in a film. As I sat down on the comfy red leather couch, I finally had a chance to look around and take everything in. From my seat I could see a 60 inch television screen, three huge computer screens and multiple pieces of recording equipment, none of which I had any idea of what they were.

Once we were introduced to all the mentors on board the bus it was straight down to business and we began working on the song which we were going to write and produce during the day. We were divided into groups (violins, vocalists, percussion, guitars and piano) and began working on our separate parts of the song. When we were finished writing the song we immediately moved on to recording what we had wrote. Microphones were attached to our violins and we wore headphones so we could hear what was being recorded. I was shocked at the amount of time it took just to record one small segment of the song. After everyone had their part recorded we moved on to making the music video. This was really the fun part. Everyone was visually recorded playing their instruments and singing and also in different poses. It took a while to get used to but we had a lot of fun while making it.

Overall it was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed the day. I can't wait to see the finished product and hopefully all our hard work will pay off!
